Not too long ago I introduced our Blue Jay. I stated that I would update you on some new words if he learned any. He has learned two in my opinion.
Unfortunately, its almost impossible to be able to record them because he is random when he goes into his babbling fits. The first noise is a noise that our baby degus made in the first few weeks. This is usually a high pitched scream, I ran into the EHR because I thought something was wrong. I looked into the playpen where they are being kept and saw they were all sleeping contently in their bed, I noticed Jay Bird sitting there and making the same noise. Another thing he has started to say is his name. Every time a keeper gets him we usually talk to him and say Jay Bird several times. Several people have noticed that when he goes into his talking spells he calls out a random “JayBiiird” in between.
Hey Jill, does the sound of the squeaky Degu wheel count? Weren’t you the first to notice that he copies that, too? I want to teach him to say “Say my name!” and “Come talk to me Jill!” Haha!:)
He does, but I cant decide if it is the degu wheel OR a natural Blue Jay call. I have heard some online that sound similar, but we can always hope.
