I wrote about the beginning of my day in my last post. It showed my point of view as Gus was waking up from a night of sleeping on the cliff. This series of pictures was taken on the same day. After checking the bear fence, I checked the lemurs and the wolves. By the time I got to the bear house he had climbed down the cliff and was making his way over to the bear house. I amRead more

The Lemurs Meet a Mop Head
Who doesn’t like enrichment videos?? Cereal strung up into a cotton mop head is one of my favorite enrichment items to watch our lemurs interact with. Personally, I think stringing a whole bunch of tiny pieces of cereal onto a mop head is tedious and not at all fun, but the result is worth it. Summer is here so it’s time for watermelons
Summer is here so it’s watermelon season. We LOVE getting watermelons for the animals! The initial benefit is we get to pile them all on someone’s desk (it used to be Kristen and now it’s Aaron’s desk). Please drop off watermelons at the Admissions Desk or at Gate # 1. So many of the animals seem to love watermelon: Lemurs Bears Farmyard critters. A video of watermelon eating! We’ll be having Watermelon Day again this year on FridayRead more
A Keeper’s Point of View, Part 1
Each morning as an Explore the Wild Keeper, after I’ve read over yesterday’s logs, gotten my food and enrichment together for the day and grabbed any additional items I might need (i.e. snacks) I head out to begin my day. The first thing I do is check the bear fence. This also involves checking the bears. I took several photos in a row of what that looks like from my point of view. Read more
Missing radios found by bears
Gus and Yona found the missing radios that we lost in the trees while cutting them off the fence during last week’s storm! Ranger Ro caught this photo of the bears talking about something… ideas? Gus looking particularly handsome with his scarf.Read more
