Dan is doing fine…
… but it looks like he had a run in with a branch and the branch won. Katy noticed that Dan was missing fur and had a cut on his leg earlier this week. It’s a pretty big laceration that needed to be stitched up. Dr. Vanderford came in and took care of things and Dan was back with his family a few hours later. Read more
Behind the Scenes bear program tomorrow
I’m leading a behind the scenes member-only program tomorrow at bears. Every program I tend to share some bear tattoos with the kids. Interns continue to help us out.
Davidson County Community College has a zoo keeper program. We typically get student interns every year. We help train them on what it is like to be an animal keeper. I received an email from former intern Jill Sharp recently about their Haunted Trail event next week. The students are earmarking the funds they raise to help support the care of the animals at the Museum. YAY FOR OUR INTERNS FOR CONTINUING TO HELP US OUT. Read more
Closed Monday Work
We are closed most Mondays in the fall and winter. It allows us to do projects that are easier when guests are not around- things like painting and shutting exhibits down. We try to squeeze a lot in to these Mondays. A couple Mondays ago Aaron took a pressure washer to the indoor walls and floors.
