Some Days Suck

There is really no better description. It’s one of those sucky, sad days in the animal department. We have a few animals on “hospice” care and today was the day to euthanize Nimbus. A difficult day for sure, but not a surprising one.  However, on Wednesday, Wendy Woodchuck was not looking so well. She did not improve. I checked on her several times throughout the night last night and today she went to the vet (Dr. Thea Carter).  Wendy was euthanizedRead more

Woodchuck (and other) sighting

This is Wendy, our Woodchuck. She was standing outside my office this morning when I walked out to check on something.  It always makes me smile to see her.  I don’t see her much during the winter as she spends most of it sleeping.  She’s at her post-winter weight- looking pretty skinny in this photo. She goes into winter hibernation around 5 Kgs and comes out around 3.5 Kgs. Katy can chime in the comment section and let us knowRead more

It’s Time For Hiberna…..zzzzzzzzzz

It’s around that time when Wendy the Woodchuck is slowing down and getting ready for hibernation. She is the only animal that we have that goes into a true hibernation. Wendy came to us in March of 2004 from Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury, North Carolina. She was already an adult when she arrived at their facility, so we doRead more

Wendy the thief!

Last week I was on my way out of the office to bring invoices to the business office. I set my papers down to answer a phone call. A few minutes later, I went to pick up my stack of papers, and noticed my pink copy of an invoice on the floor, but the white receipt that was stapled to it was missing. I searched the desk, my office, everywhere, and repeatedly. I was so frustrated having lost the invoice-Read more
