While I won’t say that this is normal everyday backyard stuff in the corner of New England that I’m from, it’s also not completely atypical or surprising. I saw many bald eagles over the Connecticut River every day and bobcats and bears were common place in state parks (or bending over the poles of backyard bird feeders). It’s really amazing to see how different the wildlife is down in the south compared to up north. A moose would be so out of place in Durham!
