Alpaca Pool

Recently, we added a pool to our alpacas yard. We had a good feeling that they would use it because we kept finding a lot of dirt in their water buckets and evidence of water being splashed around. It took a while to be able to capture it on film, but we finally did.    Read more

Raptor Center Road Trip & a Quiz!

Kimberly and I recently took a road trip out to the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville, NC to pick up our two new owls. The trip out was uneventful (unlike the ride home) and we got to walk around the facility before crating up our birds for the van ride home.  Here are photos of few of the residents at the Raptor Center. Let’s all get weighed!

Keepers are enjoying the new scale in the farmyard, and so are the critters.  Here’s some video of Max and the alpacas getting weighed. Our newest additions: Kerby and Styx

Meet Kerby and Styx, our newest acquisitions to the museum family of animals. Both came to us (after 6+ hours of  road tripping) from the Carolina Raptor Center (CRC) just outside Charlotte. CRC is very successful in returning injured raptors to the wild afterRead more

Ultrasound for a Snake

Last Thursday Katy and I took Todd, our black rat snake in for an ultrasound of his heart. Since Dr. Godshalk, a board certified veterinary radiologist, doesn’t have a lot of snakes for clients, we had to bring a “normal” snake so she could compare the heart of one to the other. We took the snakes to VSH in Cary- this is where, 3 years ago, Dr. Godshalk helped us out with Cassandra’s brush with death. All went well.  Read more
