Superworms need enrichment too!

One night I was closing Carolina Wildlife and I was checking on all the animals.  I started to walk past the superworms when I saw that they had a structure in their container. Our crickets, superworms and mealworms all get a regular diet just like our other animals do.  But, if we have food scrapes that none of the other animals would want, then we give it to the feeder animals (which are animals that end up being a mealRead more

Quiz: Who am I? –Answer

It’s Misha! Our Red-tailed Hawk. We had a couple warm days recently and I brought Misha down to the Butterfly House patio to spend some time warming his feathers in the sun. Where are the Red Ruffed Lemurs?

If you have been to the museum lately you may have noticed the Red Ruffed Lemurs are not on exhibit. While our new Ring Tailed Lemurs are on exhibit in indoor viewing our Red Ruffed Lemurs are on vacation. By “vacation” I mean that they don’t have to come upstairs and be on exhibit. Instead, the girls are hanging out in the downstairs holding areas. They also have access to some outdoor side cages as well.  They would normally onlyRead more

It’s Closer to Winter than Spring!

North Carolina might stay comfortably warm well into October, but I start thinking about blizzards and snowpeople by September. So in honor of “it’s almost winter, and Sarah wants to wear her comfy sweatshirts again” Day, a video of Elaina, Rocky and Patches, all wearing their winter finest: Read more
