Yona Finds a Toy

It doesn’t seem to matter some days how creative we keepers are with our enrichment ideas. This day, the “best toy ever” was a stick. Enjoy the pics I snapped from the bear house of Yona keeping herself amused while Autumn and I giggled at her antics.Read more

Eggstravaganza!

I think I love making enrichment for the animals more than they like to receive it sometimes! I especially like to do things that are themed or are just really fun to make! Superworms need enrichment too!

One night I was closing Carolina Wildlife and I was checking on all the animals.  I started to walk past the superworms when I saw that they had a structure in their container. In the picture below, one of our Box Turtles is enriching himself despite us providing different types of enrichment.   As long as they are interacting with theirRead more

Having fun with Bear Enrichment

Enriching the lives of our animals is a daily task for us keepers. When I have the time, I like to be a little more creative with my enrichment ideas. The other day I decided to put a table and four chairs into the bear side yard. I carefully picked out the tallest chair for Gus and the shortest chair for Yona. Mimi and Virginia received similar sized chairs. To entice them to actually check out my creation, I wroteRead more
