This week was filled with loads of tears – so expected when we lose someone we love and care about deeply. Goodbye Max

  We’ve posted many times when animals die. Every time is hard. Some times are very hard. This is one of those times for so many people. Keepers arrived this morning to find Max dead. This was unexpected as all appeared fine Saturday. Dr. Cannedy has been here to check things out initially. After that, Max was taken for further testing to see if we can learn why he died. Snow Day

It’s Misha! Our Red-tailed Hawk. We had a couple warm days recently and I brought Misha down to the Butterfly House patio to spend some time warming his feathers in the sun. He promptly fluffed up and took a nap on the back of a bench. You might notice the grey or white cast his feathers seem to have. Christmas 2014

Prep started yesterday: find the head lamp make sure camera is working review all logbook tasks and talk to the Keepers about any questions make sure tasty food is on my desk set alarm for 5 AM I arrived on grounds around 5:15.
