So if you’ve seen me around Museum grounds lately, you’ll notice my profile is looking a little different these days! Yep, in April, I will become a very different kind of “animal keeper”!! Our female wolf was just in heat, and since red wolves have a 63 day gestation period, I keep thinking how cool it would be if she got pregnant and we gave birth on the same day! Seems unlikely though, since in all of our observations, theRead more

Worm on a string
Were I a bearded dragon, my chin would not be turning black with anger/ excitement but instead, red with embarrassment. You see, a couple of weeks ago, we determined that we needed to be extra vigilant about making sure Godzilla was getting enough exercise. QuikPost: Construction update
It seems like another big step in the construction outside our office. A large pallet of drywall and studs were delivered. Contractors were also inside today to start to look at the plans for the new surgery room and the plans for the venting of gas from the anesthesia machine. They will tease me incessantly about my “keeping skills” as well as all the things that have gone wrong for me during past Christmas’. Actually, I am due for a doozy, as the past two years have not been so bad (2007 was the worst!) Click on the links below to read about past Christmas’Read more
What’s for Dinner?
NOTE: I’m temporarily working part-time in the Animal Department! I love wearing my official purple shirt. You never know what volunteering at the Museum will lead to. If you think it is hard to figure out what to have for dinner at your house, imagine all the various critters at the Museum who want to eat. Preparing food for all the animals on exhibit and behind-the-scenes is a major task for the keepers and volunteers every day. Kristen recently wroteRead more
