Another visit from Dr. English

Dr. English was in last Thursday to check on the eyes of 11 of our animals. He looked at our four barred owls and two screech owls, the donkey, Ladybelle ferret, Baby salamander, Lycus the ring tailed lemur, and Bugsy rabbit. He comes by every year (see some photos from his visit last year). Here are a couple photos from this year’s visit (with help from another veterinarian and his tech Rachel too).  Read more

Minor surgery for Chummix Goat

Chummix Goat is fine- really. Keepers noticed a few weeks ago a mass under is armpit.  It didn’t drain like it was an abscess from one of his vaccines.  So, we scheduled an early morning time for Dr. Cannedy to come to remove the mass and send it off for testing so we can learn that everything is well with our big noisy goat. Below are photos from this morning’s procedure.  Chummix is up and about and eating and actingRead more

It still works, the old-fashioned way, by looking through the view finder and then waiting to look at the photo you snapped later. We’re likely going to replace the camera (any suggestions as toRead more

QuikPost: Yona’s visit to the vet.

We took Yona in for radiographs (x-rays) on February 9. (We mentioned that after she had a visit from the vets we might take her in if her limp did not improve). Dr. Carter is going to send me some photos of the visit- I busted the camera during the event so it’s going to take me a little longer to get you some photos of Yona lying on a stretcher or an x-ray table. X-rays and blood were taken.Read more

Yona’s Visit from the Vet.

Dr. Carter checked out Yona on Sunday. Yona has some thin hair on her chest and a slight limp. Her front legs are a little pigeon-toed: we’ll keep a watch and maybe take her in for x-rays if we don’t see any improvement. In general, Yona is settling in slowly. She is currently only eating peanuts that are in the shell and turning down most everything else offered to her (unless it is syrup that we put medicine in or mini-marshmallowsRead more
