Yona’s First Day Meeting our Bears.

Sherry wrote about the bear introductions already but I wanted to add some video clips to her description. For a while Yona was in the side yard with Gus but they were not interacting. Yona was exploring the features in the yard and decided to tank a dunk in the water trough. Yona meets the other bears

Things have gone pretty well with Yona meeting the other bears. (Remember, black bears are solitary by nature). Don’t put a camera in your back pocket when trying to sedate a bear

QuikPost: Yona’s visit to the vet.

We took Yona in for radiographs (x-rays) on February 9. (We mentioned that after she had a visit from the vets we might take her in if her limp did not improve). Dr. Carter is going to send me some photos of the visit- I busted the camera during the event so it’s going to take me a little longer to get you some photos of Yona lying on a stretcher or an x-ray table. X-rays and blood were taken.Read more

Cat in a tree, bear on a fence

While Cassidy and I were down at bears yesterday, Yona decided to impress us with her mad climbing skillz. Unfortunately she overestimated her abilities. Fortunately I had a camera in my pocket. There are some great shots of her bear feet, and a few good shots of the edge of my finger. Enjoy! Read more
