Our weekly meeting

Every Thursday at 2:00pm, we gather into our quaint little office and have our Animal Department meeting. This is time for Sherry and all of the keepers to sit down and discuss the week’s events and what is happening in the department. It is a great way to keep everyone updated on important information about our animals’ health and well-being, their diets and enclosures, new enrichment ideas and other things going on inside the department. For instance, some of the things we discussed this week were a possible increase in the bears’ diets because they are bulking up for winter, and the addition of another water heater in our softshell turtle tank to increase the temperature of his water. These meetings are the best way to keep all of the keepers informed and on the same page when it comes to caring for our animals.

Kent is performing a selection from Verdi’s Requiem Mass. Surprisingly, he prefers the mezzo-soprano parts!
