Fecal Cup
Often times I ask the Keepers if they can retrieve fecal (poop!) samples for me to test. Keeping Cool–Bear Style!
As Sarah mentioned earlier, is has been HOT lately. In addition to getting showers, we make large ice treats for the bears to help them keep cool. We usually add a variety of fruits or items that may be expiring soon to encourage them to dig though the ice. This is by far one of my favorite enrichment items for the bears! Lemur Exhibit 2.0
With the addition of our new lemurs, the lemur exhibit needed some modifications before they could go out into it. We had to “lemur proof” for young, very active and very mobile lemurs. The structure that was in the yard had weathered and needed replaced. Being one of the ETW keepers, I had many ideas on what I would like the exhibit to look like so I drew up what I wanted and handed it over to our exhibits team.Read more
