Lemur Exhibit 2.0

With the addition of our new lemurs, the lemur exhibit needed some modifications before they could go out into it. We had to “lemur proof” for young, very active and very mobile lemurs. The structure that was in the yard had weathered and needed replaced. Being one of the ETW keepers, I had many ideas on what I would like the exhibit to look like so I drew up what I wanted and handed it over to our exhibits team. Now, I am no artist or engineer so my drawing was not to scale and was pretty basic. To my surprise, the exhibits crew said they could build exactly what I wanted! The very next day they had real, to-scale drawings and had already started working.

The exhibit is now fitted with what I am calling lemur tree houses that allow them to have shelter from the rain, places to sun and places to be in the shade! You can stop by the lemur exhibit and see our Ring-Tailed Lemurs checking out and exploring their new space but in the meantime here are a few pictures!
