Spotlight: Erin Brown

Erin is the Museum’s only animal keeper assistant. She spends most of her time taking care of the animals in Carolina Wildlife as well as the animals used for education programs. You’ll rarely get a chance to see her because she’s hard at work behind-the-scenes, or if you do see her she is behind glass in one of the exhibits cleaning. On Thursday mornings, however, you might actually get a chance to see her not behind glass as she helps the keepers in the Farmyard.
You can learn a lot about her by clicking here and reading what she has to say for herself about her job. I’ll share with you some things about her that she won’t tell you. Erin always has a smile on her face. I have never met anyone truly as positive as Erin. She is always willing to help and always with a smile- a real smile. She’s a great team player, and always a good sport about a practical joke (no matter which side of the joke she is on). She happens to be vegan: kind of cool to have someone who cares for animals that doesn’t eat them or any products from them. She’s also a great musician. You can hear her sing one of her songs while watching our rattlesnake shed on an earlier post.

Erin’s just another reminder to me how lucky I am to have my job and work with such great people.

I always look forward to working with Erin! She really is an awesome co-worker, and might I say I also love watching her play her music.
