Recent Vet Checks… and goodbyes

Recently, a few animals have had some issues tended to, their annual physicals, or sadly, we said goodbye to a couple of our older animals. First, Florian is doing well. He got his annual vaccines. His issues are holding steady. (Florian has three different cancers. Yes, three. The operable ones have been tended to– his skin cancer on his tail is gone and has not recurred. Additionally, the mass in his neck is holding steady in size). Tennille, our muskrat,Read more

Very Hot and Hectic Week

I find everything hard in the heat. Slower going at tasks, more changing of sweaty masks and clothes, more checking in on humans and non-humans alike to make sure everybody is getting through the day. Even our meetings are hot. The banner photo above shows our new meeting location– the parking deck! Staying safe requires masks and being distant from each other. Happy Sunday

A quick look back on the past few days, as well as forward to the next few days: I am sure everyone’s stress level is, at minimum, a bit higher than normal. Package delivery was one of the items a few weeks ago that totally pushed my buttons. (I have since calmed down, but let me just say it wasn’t pretty at all, especially when one truck arrived, backed up to the loading dock, opened the cargo bay, and itRead more

We miss our volunteers

Below is a recent email that Mary sent out to the Animal Care Team volunteers. We’d love to have them here with us but are glad they are staying safe at home. Hello all, This is typically the time I am arranging the volunteer calendar for April. All I can think about as I look at a blank calendar is how much we very much miss our dedicated Animal Care Volunteers! We are getting by during this shut down. TheRead more
