Happy Christmas! Today has been incredibly smooth. I am sure it is due to the abundance of help. Yesterday we had an almost full contingent of staff, and today, Keeper Chris and Volunteer Virginia were in to help this morning. Given the help, it meant my start time was much later. Engineering Project follow-up

Our two student teams from Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering are in their final push to finish their projects. Both teams are focusing on enrichment feeders for the bulls, Dallas and Dusty. One team is making a scatter feeder, while the other team plans to have hay boxes open for feeding when motion sensors are set off. It will be exciting to see how everything fleshes out!Read more

Pup Check Complete

Only one more scheduled pup check is left. The last one went very well. The first team went and got the pups quickly from the yard into the den. From there we crated the pups. Alpacas ready for summer

Come check out our newly sheared alpacas. They get sheared every April, and Thursday was a perfect day for everyone for our annual event. Jonathan, our Shearer, has been shearing alpacas and llamas for about 25 years. We’ve got first cuts of fleece for sale if you are interested in purchasing. The money raised is used to buy enrichment items for the farmyard.Read more
