I’ve been too busy to write. Medical needs for animals; preparing for bad weather; and just too much work. As far as today, we made it though Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaias without any major issues, thank goodness. Even in the dark hours early this morning, as the rain stopped by 5 AM, we could see fences intact and nothing major to repair or tend to. It was a much different tour of grounds tonight than last night. We’ve had a bunchRead more

Pig Physicals Complete
Miss Piggy and Auggie received their annual physical and a clean bill of health from Dr. Mozzachio, who was in checking on our twosome recently. Their annual physical consists of a Rabies vaccine, hoof trimming, teeth check, ear and eye cleaning, and general body assessment. Everything, for both pigs, is wnl (within normal limits), and diet and supplements are to continue as is. I am a huge fan of the pig sling. Makes treating the pigs much easier, which isRead more
An Emotional Week
We invited people back to the Museum this week. Campers arrived Monday, and Members arrived starting Tuesday (online ticketing only). Everything is very thoughtful, limited, and as safe as possible. It’s been almost 4 months without guests here, working quite a bit, and a whirlwind of emotions throughout the period. (I am sure everyone is having their own roller-coaster ride since March!) While working at Bear Overlook, the bears treated me with a visit. I sooooooo wanted to be where MimiRead more
Last Week in June
I was so happy this morning to welcome back former volunteer and former temporary Animal Keeper Nicole. Nicole’s arrival and help brought smiles and cheers from the rest of the team this morning! The other thing I was sooooooo happy about this morning is Virginia’s improvement. Last week she tore part of the skin off her foot. Given the issues she has already walking it was a hard few days for her. We’ve had her locked in the house soRead more
Oh Dusty
Dusty made a little extra work today for the humans at the Museum. Guess what happens when an over 400 Kg Cattle rubs really hard on a car wash brush? You get access to more plants to eat when you bust through the fence. So, a bit of time locked up in the stalls for Dusty and Dallas while the team repaired the fence, and then back out to inspect the completed work.Read more
