Again this week, not sure where the time has gone. Yes, it’s only Tuesday night, but my schedule has me off grounds starting around noon on Wednesday. Seems that putting out fires (figuratively) or being in meetings has limited my access to some good photos (as well as my sanity). Furthermore, the heat lowers my tolerance threshold. I go through several masks and bandanas daily, but do get to spend some quality time in the walk-in freezer. Here a fewRead more

Rain Rain Go Away
Not sure where the week went. Maybe it’s because I’ve been on so many meetings I cannot remember what’s been going on. Many people these days are meeting all the time on the computer. I’d have to say— what a drag. Thank goodness I get to be out in the field taking care of the animals and the people, and only part of the time on my computer. With the weather, all our yard work projects came to a halt,Read more
Lots of help means lots of thank yous
It’s the time of year for spring cleaning. It is also the time of year when yard work never ends. We couldn’t tackle any of these projects without the help of others. Just like last Tuesday, we have some people to thank. Brooke, from our Guest Relations Team, has been working all over the place: prepping diets, scrubbing floors, cleaning indoor spaces, and more. Thanks Brooke! Richard, from our Butterfly House Team, has been working with us specifically clearing brushRead more
Welcome to June
Lots of yard work got done today, with the help of some new folks on campus. Ranger Brooke joined our team yesterday and will be with us a couple days each week all month. All the bears are inRead more
The End of May
It’s the last day of May. Kind of crazy to think about what the last three months have been like. Although not ideal, nor anyone’s preference, we’ve settled into a routine here. The gifts keep coming: (click here for our wish list) Virginia continues to get her laser treatment: The Team spends lunch time, and lots of other time too, with Lightning: We continue to stay diligent in keeping ourselves and the animals as safe and well as possible. Don’tRead more
Memorial Day Weekend Activities
What could one do this Memorial Day Weekend? Hum…. so many choices, the best one being safe and staying well. At the Museum here’s a few things on my list: Go for a drive. Spend time with friends, outdoors. As they finished cutting, the skies opened up. Rain and a bit of thunder made for an awfully wet hauling off of limbs. (Remember, we’re not letting brush piles sit around anymore of fear we get guests) Maybe even a boatRead more
